May flowers give us June dollars! This was the largest monthly paycheck I have received, so far. I received over $75 in dividends this month. The Schwab US Dividend Equity ETF (SCHD) paid me $28.15 based on 42.35 shares. SCHD, year to date, has severely underperformed compared to the S&P 500 and QQQ.  Although the capital appreciation has been dismal, this has allowed me to grab as many shares as possible increasing my annual dividend amount. The iShares Core Dividend Growth ETF (DGRO) has faired better compared to SCHD but still underperformed compared to the S&P 500 and QQQ. This month, I received a paycheck of $8.60 based on 33.11 shares.

Moving on to stocks, I received $6.34 based on 4.88 from Union Pacific Corp (UNP). UNP stock has been volatile this past year and stayed relatively flat like most non-technology-related stocks. However, this allows me to buy at a decent discount and earn more dividends. Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) paid me $6.00 based on 5.04 shares. JNJ has bounced up and down from the mid $160s to as low as $150 in the last 3 months. Each time it gets close to the $155 mark, you best believe I am buying.

Pepsico (PEP) in the last 6 months has performed well and acted like a consumer defensive stock. Which it is supposed to do when the economy and stock market are fragile. I received a $5.76 paycheck based on 4.56 shares. Kroger (KR), one of my favorite dividend growth companies, paid me $5.50 based on 21.17 shares. As JNJ and UNP, its stock price has remained flat but has allowed me to buy shares at a fair price.

NextEra Energy (NEE) paid me $4.58 this month based on 9.80 shares. NEE has underperformed this year, but like SCHD, has allowed me to buy more shares of this great utility dividend growth stock. Waste Management (WM) paid me $4.49 based on 6.41 shares. WM is a fantastic company whose price has been flat this year until June; where the price has skyrocketed in the last month boosting my overall gains.

Mcdonald’s (MCD) paid me $4.25 based on 2.8 shares. The stock has performed well this year, which is awesome. The only downside to the explosion in performance of MCD is I now buy less of this great company. Lastly, Microsoft (MSFT) paid me the lowest amount at $2.42  based on 3.56 shares. What MSFT lacks in dividends has paid me in capital appreciation. I bought most of my shares when this company was in the $250 range. It is now trading at around $330 range. I call that a win lol!

I use the stock trading platform called Public (this is an affiliated link where I get a small kickback if you sign up with my referral code/link!). Public charges no fees to invest, you can choose to have your dividends to be in a reinvestment plan (DRIP) (this is very important and will likely be explained in another blog), the platform is simple and user-friendly, and you can buy fractional shares. I have enjoyed Public’s platform during this past year and will continue to use it in the future. The link above is an affiliated link sign up today and get a free slice of a popular stock between $3-300! This is my compounding machine in which I hope to reach financial independence by using dividend growth stocks to supplement my income.

To act as a high-return savings account, I use an M1 finance account (Sign up today and get $10 for free!). I will use this fund to help pay a down payment on a car or house, and any other future expenses. Instead of getting a 1-2% yield/return, I hope to get an 8-12% return.
