Weekly Recipe #3: Easy Overnight Cold Brew

Zero Effort Cold Brew

A Quick Blurb

Coffee is the way of life for many. Wake up, make that sweet elixir, and feel alive. For me, it is a daily treat. But, what if you or I don’t want coffee on a hot muggy day. No satisfication in that! My solution is cold brew coffee. Cold Brew is one the best drink alternatives for warm days. Best part, it takes zero effort to make it. All you need is a vessel, coffee, and water.

The Hardware and Software of the Recipe

Hardware:

Note* If you do not have a French Press, you can use a 32 OZ mason jar. To filter the coffee, use either a cheesecloth or a giant coffee filter.

Software:

  • 60 ml of semi-coarse coffee grounds
  • 1000 ml of filtered water

Let’s Cook

Step 1:

Pour the coffee grounds into the French Press. You will want to start this process after dinner, around 7pm. The longer you brew the coffee, the better the coffee will be extracted. Thus, the stronger it will taste!

Step 2:

Pour about half the water into the French Press. Use the spoon to stir the slurry. This is to help the extraction process.

Step 3:

Pour the rest of the water into the French Press, and stir again.

Step 4:

After an hour or two, stir the slurry again. The more you stir, the better the extraction will be. Then before you go to bed, stir again. I promise, this all matters. Fit together the top of the French Press, with the strainers, and place it on top.

Step 5:

Time to wake up! After you have woken up, all you have to do now is press down, slowly, to the bottom.

Step 6:

I enjoy my cold brew coffee with ice. Some days with vanilla foam on top! You can also make your own caramel or vanilla iced lattes! The choice is yours!
